Every EPCOT trip has the potential to be magical, but sometimes the parks have other plans. Disney Food Blog recently asked its Facebook followers to share their worst park-day disasters at EPCOT, and two stories rose above the rest for sheer relatability.
Reader Claire Marie learned the hard way that Mission: Space Orange — the full-motion simulator version of the ride — is no joke. After riding it, she couldn't walk or see straight, somehow made it back to her resort, got sick, and slept for four hours before feeling human again. It's a reminder that Mission: Space has carried that reputation since it opened in 2003, and for some guests the intensity of the Orange mission is genuinely overwhelming.
Perhaps even more gut-wrenching was reader Paul's experience with Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. Paul's group had made it all the way to the front of the boarding line for the then-new attraction when the ride broke down and closed for the remainder of the day — their only day at EPCOT. Paul is still waiting for the chance to finally experience the ride, and is apparently coping with eggplant parmigiana in the meantime.
Beyond those two highlights, DFB's readers also reported weather woes, meal mishaps, health scares, and at least one person who took fireworks debris to the eye during Luminous — and somehow considered it only a minor footnote to an otherwise fine evening. If you're planning a Disney World trip, these stories are a good reminder to build flexibility into your day and maybe sit out Mission: Space Orange if you're prone to motion sickness.
