Construction at Disney's Animal Kingdom's upcoming Tropical Americas land has reached a notable turning point: the massive tower crane that dominated the skyline since September 2025 has been removed from the site. Tower cranes are essential for hoisting the heaviest and tallest structural elements into place, so their removal typically signals that a project's uppermost construction phases are complete.
Alongside the crane's departure, themed rockwork is now becoming visible on the ground. Pieces near what will become the land's central walkway appear to be sample sections that were previously staged near the Imagineering office, while taller concrete columns are now receiving their rock-texture treatment. Both sides of the future entrance — located near Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! — are also getting the same rockwork finish.
Tropical Americas is designed around the fictional community of Pueblo Esperanza and is on track to open in 2027. The land will include a carousel, a new Encanto-themed attraction, a playground, and an Indiana Jones adventure that will replace the longtime DINOSAUR ride.
