Universal Orlando has demolished the former Treasures of Poseidon gift shop in The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure, according to reporting by Disney Fanatic. The demolition follows the removal of the nearby Poseidon’s Fury attraction in August.
The shop had closed earlier in the year, with construction walls installed in early September after Poseidon’s Fury was fully removed. The cleared site now opens a view across the Islands of Adventure lagoon toward Marvel Super Hero Island, an area that had previously been blocked by the waterfront buildings.
Universal has not announced what, if anything, will replace the demolished buildings. Reports and fan speculation have pointed to possibilities including Pokémon or an expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but neither has been confirmed by Universal.
Elsewhere in The Lost Continent, Mythos Restaurant is slated to close permanently next year. Universal has announced that Thunder Falls Terrace in Jurassic Park will be converted into a full-service restaurant as its replacement.
