Walt Disney World has set a late spring 2027 reopening window for Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, giving guests their first more specific timeline for the Tomorrowland attraction’s return.
The rotating-theater attraction closed July 6, 2026, for what Disney has described as its most extensive overhaul. An exact reopening date has not been announced, so visitors planning Magic Kingdom trips before summer 2027 should not assume the attraction will be available.
Disney has previously confirmed that the refreshed experience will include a new introductory scene featuring a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure. The project will also reimagine parts of the familiar scenes and decades depicted in the attraction, which follows an American family through changing technology over time.
Carousel of Progress has roots in the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair and has long been a fixture of Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. Rather than replacing the attraction, Disney is updating the existing experience while retaining its central concept.
